In honor of Mother's Day,..

So last June while the Jones family welcomed Jackson to the world, I received a cute little book from my mother in law, Marty called "1001 Things it means to be a mom". Of course I skimmed through it and there was some cute stuff but now, 10 months later, I've been reading several a night in bed as my way of winding down. I had to share some of my favorites though:

*Being a mom means thinking you're the luckiest person in the world.

*Being a mom means saying, "That's not nice."

*Being a mom means making lists and schedules and posting them all around the house and on the refrigerator door.

*Being a mom means thinking coffee makes you a better mother.

*Being a mom means always feeling judged by the mommy police.

*Being a mom means baking their favorite birthday cake. Even when they're twenty-five.

*Being a mom means keeping your relationship with your husband a priority.

*Being a mom means feeling like you don't spend enough time with your children. Even if you don't work outside of the home.

*Being a mom means knowing you need friends to talk to, because you can only have so many conversations with people three feet tall.

*Being a mom means keeping every Mother's Day card in a special box and rereading them year after year.

*Being a mom constantly saying, "I love you," because that's the most important thing a child needs to know.

*Being a mom means worrying how to keep your baby safe in an unsafe world.

*Being a mom means accepting you're going to show up late sometimes. In fact, people are lucky you show up at all.

*Being a mom means forgetting a baby will impact your career, your savings, and your retirement.

*Being a mom means trading your purse for a diaper bag.

*Being a mom means realizing moms are going through the exact same things-except the thin moms who have nannies.

*Being a mom means not understanding how anyone could consider abortion.

*Being a mom means praying over your child while she sleeps.

*Being a mom means needing to shower, vacuum, wash clothes, change the baby, make lunch, and take a nap-all at the same time.

*Being a mom means obsessing about your child's birthday parties while your husband wanders around saying, "What's the big deal?"

*Being a mom means felling ecstatic one second-and then feeling overwhelmed, lonely, or fearful the next.

*Being a mom means wondering how in the world you could love someone so much.

*Being a mom means signing up for weekly emails from http://www.babycenter.com/.

*Being a mom means suddenly realizing you have that mysterious capability called mother's intuition.

*Being a mom means realizing you haven't been to the gym in weeks.

*Being a mom means recognizing that your children are a gift from God. And treating them as such.

*Being a mom means thanking God for this experience.

*Being a mom means loving your husband even more after having children because of the love he has for them.
