$3 can get you far

Being a new mommy I have learned that every day is full of new discoveries. I have found that there is no reason in spending more than $3 on a toy for your child. Especially for Jackson. Spending just a few dollars for a pair of socks or a paci would be more than sufficient. :)

Observe if you will the basket FULL of perfectly good toys behind him,...
...however, he would still rather play with his beloved paci.

Now, eating his sock

Lastly, eating his sock while playing with his paci.

On another update with Jackson he is eating so many various foods now,...yay,...finally! Also we're introducing a sippy cup and he's doing real well with it at times. We think he is SO close to crawling. He's been scooting (mostly backgrounds) and hopping forwards on his knees-haha! Any day now he'll be on the go and getting into everything. I guess it's about time to baby proof the house! I can't believe how big he's getting! Time has flown!

Our first scare as Parents

This definitely wasn't a blog I was looking forward to writing for the past couple days but I've had family and friends inquire on how Jackson is doing so I just wanted to give everyone an update. By the way thank yall so much. It's awesome to have such caring family and friends. We love you all!
.....This past Tuesday, we had our first big scare as parents. For the past 6 months Jackson has been very fortunate to be a pretty healthy baby(knock on wood, I hope I don't jinx him now saying that).
Mr went in last Monday Dec. 29th for his normal 6mo vaccines. Our pediatrician also recommend him get the first half of the flu vaccine so he had that one as well. The day after he started getting real fussy along with throwing up. We took him back to the doctor last Friday and they couldn't find anything wrong,...just assuming that his stomach was a little bothered by all his vaccines. The weekend came and went,...still not himself and pretty sick. I called the doctor this Monday, then again Tuesday. I couldn't really get any reason from any of the nurses why this was still going on a week later and he wasn't getting any better.
Finally around 7ish Tuesday Josh and I decided to take him to the ER. He had screamed for a straight 2 hours prior.... and not a crying: "hold me", "give me attention", "I'm hungry", "I'm sleepy" crying. Every parent knows their child and knows when they are hurting and just not themselves. Something was wrong with Jackson. We both spoke with our moms and they both told us to take him and they were going to meet us there. Of course once we got him in the car to take him he fell asleep (typical). Once we got to Carilion the doctor checked him out and said he looked fine (sigh). She decided that with all the info we had given on his behavior and such she was going to do an xray on his stomach just in case. The xray showed something questionable in the top of his small intestines. So then she ordered an ultrasound. That's when it got scary. They suspected that he had "intercession" where your intestines ended up looking like a scope overlapping eachother. This would have led to surgery. They said they needed to do a barrium enima to really try to find out what was going on. Only one of us could go in with him so I waited outside the room while my super supportive, and brave might I add husband (did I mention awesome daddy) went in with him to make him feel more comfortable. Ma waited with me. By God's amazing grace he didn't have intercession. They did find that he had "mesenteric adenitis" which is swollen infected lymph nodes that could be caused by something viral. Unfortunately that is something that goes away on it's own like anything else viral,...no antibiotics. I also want to add the staff that night was great. Very supportive and helpful. We ended up leaving the ER around 3:30am Wednesday morning with our exhausted little soldier. We all got a lot of much need rest Wednesday.
Jackson is now feeling a little bit better. He's playing and laughing just like his normal self. We are so incredibly thankful for it not being something more serious and for him starting to feel better. God is SO good!
Here's a picture of him taken with my phone after getting pricked and poked and having his iv. Isn't this the most pitiful he's ever looked?

First Time Blogger!

Hello all! If you can't already tell I'm completely new at this whole blog thing. I guess I need to get a little bit more updated with our technology but I figured having facebook and myspace were pretty much keeping me in tune with everyone. This can just be one of the now 3 things Josh can call me a "stalker" on. Every time I get on the computer I always hear: "who are you stalking on facebook today hunnie?". I know I'm not the only one....I like to keep in touch with people I don't see as much anymore and even for the ones that I do it's still nice to see what's going on every few days,....am I right? By the way, I'm sure my husband would now like to thank Emily, Amy, and April for converting me to an "offical blogger"!! :)

For my first little post here are a couple pics that I tried doing for our first Christmas card with Mr. Jackson. Definitely not up to Emily Dowdy calliber but it will have to do this year! Oh yeah, you weren't the only mother who let her son get into the Christmas lights Em! I'm guilty!

Our Christmas was absolutely wonderful! We got to spend more time in Tennessee with Josh's family which was great! We had such a nice time getting to see his aunt, uncle, and cousins! Josh was actually lucky and him and his cousin Michael got to go to the Titans/Steelers game! He was super pumped! Here's a group shot of everyone:

We also got to go to "ICE". It had the Grinch featured with everything sculpted in ice and at the end there was this beautiful nativity scene.

We had such an awesome time in TN. It was so great to see family and see how the boys have grown. Wish we could do it more often!

Where's Jackson?? :)

We are truely blessed with having such a close family. We ran around ALL day Christmas but on the upside of being endlessly exhausted, it was great to spend the holidays with the people you love! Hope all had a wonderful Christmas!! :) Best wishes for a HAPPY NEW YEAR!
